London has no single grammar school test. Unlike Birmingham or Trafford, each selective borough runs its own arrangements. Sutton’s grammar schools use the Selective Eligibility Test (SET), Bexley runs its own GL-based test, the Tiffin schools in Kingston set their own two-stage papers, and Barnet’s Queen Elizabeth’s and Henrietta Barnett each use their own highly competitive tests. Redbridge and Bromley add further options with Ilford County High, Woodford County High, St Olave’s and Newstead Wood. On top of the state grammars sits London’s enormous independent sector, where entrance is typically through the ISEB Common Pre-Test or each school’s own 11+ papers.
